Passing through New York this Summer? Science Gallery is presenting BIORHYTHM: MUSIC AND THE BODY as the first exhibition to ever appear at the New York based World Science Festival and is hosted at the wonderful Eyebeam Art + Technology Center in Chelsea. The exhibition is made possible through the support of Imagine Ireland, the Cordover Family Foundation and the University of Dublin Fund.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you are invited to Science Gallery's first ever funeral. The final switch-off happens on Thursday February 24th from 6.30pm.

We've been having a great time at BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition today and, before we find out who the overall winners are, we've put together some of our favourite projects (in no particular order).

Oyster mushrooms to clear up oil spills (stand 1605)
Twitter, judging the mood of Ireland (stand 3202)
Using old catalytic converters for boilers (stand 2611)
Freshwater transgenic sponges (stand 1204)
Cloud fractal patterns with lots of pretty images (stand 2523)
Helping people with muscular dystrophy using electrical wires (stand 1422)

BTYS 2011 - Day 2

A smashing start to day 2, here at the BT Young Scientists Exhibition with the first SG demonstration of the day proving to be the hottest ticket in the RDS. We've optimised our technique to get as many lava-lamps out as possible, and we're expecting the 12pm demonstration to be even busier!

The mediator crew have also been checking their ability to keep balanced while standing on one leg at the Intel stand [Shaun is sporting a zimmerframe sticker that attests to his low score; meanwhile, Conor is flaunting his high-scoring unicycle sticker].

We've had great interest in our experiments, Homemade Lava Lamp and Psychedelic Milk! We have our next demonstration at 3pm at the Irish Times stand, so make sure to check it out. And be on the lookout for people wandering around the RDS with our Lava Lamps! We'll be wandering around the stands ourselves. Keep an eye out for our signature Q&A or ?&! Tshirts.

We started off BTYS 2011, with excitement and Mexican waves at the Opening Ceremony yesterday afternoon. We were lucky enough to spend a sneaky hour checking out the fantastic projects at this years event. There was such an exciting buzz around the RDS, and we are really looking to what what the next few days will bring. We will be letting you know about some of our favourite projects as the event goes on, so make so make sure you check them out!
